Standard Garage Door Sizes in Australia
Before you order a door, you need three numbers: the opening width, the opening height and the headroom above it. Here are the sizes we fit most often.
Single garage door sizes
The most common Australian single door is 2400mm wide by 2100mm high. Older Queensland homes often run 2135mm high, and newer builds sometimes step up to 2400mm high for a 4WD or roof racks.
Double garage door sizes
A standard double is 4800mm by 2100mm, with 5000mm and 5500mm widths common in newer estates. Panel-lift doors are made to measure, so odd openings are rarely a problem.
Headroom and side room
Allow roughly 300mm of headroom above the opening for a standard sectional door track, and 100mm of side room each side. Low-headroom track kits get that down to about 150mm if your ceiling is tight.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I get a custom-sized garage door?
- Yes. Sectional doors are built to your opening, so non-standard widths and heights are straightforward — they just add a week or two to the lead time.
