Garage Door Openers

What's actually gone wrong
The motor runs but the door doesn't move. Usually a stripped drive gear or a sheared trolley, sometimes a broken spring making the door too heavy for the motor. The spring gets checked first, because replacing an opener that failed under an unbalanced door just kills the new one too.
The door reverses straight back up. Nine times out of ten it's the photo-electric safety sensors knocked out of alignment or blocked by a cobweb or a stored box. Otherwise it's the down-force setting, or a floor seal catching.
Nothing happens at all. Power, the wall button, the logic board, or a remote that's lost its code. We work through it in order rather than replacing parts on a guess.
It's suddenly loud. Chain drives get noisier as they age and stretch. If noise through a bedroom wall is the problem, a belt-drive motor is the fix.
Repair or replace?
If the gearbox has stripped or the logic board is cooked on a motor over about ten years old, a new opener is usually the smarter spend — parts get scarce and you're paying labour twice. Anything newer, with a fault that's a known replaceable part, is generally worth repairing. You'll get an honest recommendation either way, with both prices, and you choose.
Remotes, keypads and smart control
Most remotes can be paired on the spot, and we carry universal and brand-specific units. Lost a remote and worried about it? Re-coding the opener locks out the old remote entirely, which is worth doing after a car break-in or when tenants change over.
Wireless keypads let you get in without a remote or a key. Smart openers with app control let you check from your phone whether you left the door open and shut it from wherever you are — genuinely useful, and easy to add when you're replacing a motor anyway.
Safety and servicing
Every opener we work on gets its safety reverse tested before we leave — the door must reverse when it meets an obstruction, and the sensors must stop it closing on something in the beam. It takes a minute and it's the part of the job that matters most if there are kids or pets around.
An annual service keeps the door balanced, the rollers quiet and the opener working within its force settings, which is what stops a $180 – $250 service becoming a motor replacement.
