Troubleshooting

Why Your Garage Door Won't Close

A door that reverses halfway or won't move at all is almost always one of six things. Work through them in order before you ring anyone.

1. Blocked or misaligned safety sensors

The photo-eyes sit about 150mm off the floor either side of the opening. A bike, a bin or a knocked bracket will stop the door closing. Both LEDs should be steady, not flashing.

2. Close limit set wrong

If the opener thinks the floor is lower than it is, the door hits the ground and bounces back up. The close limit dial or button on the motor head adjusts this.

3. Something in the track

Check both tracks for debris, dents or a roller that's jumped out. Never run the door with a roller out of the track.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my door close then immediately reopen?
That's usually the close limit or the force setting on the opener. If adjusting the limit doesn't fix it, the door itself is likely binding in the tracks.
